City Of Sheridan To Conduct Public Meeting Regarding Work Upgrades At Wastewater Treatment Plant

Jul 08, 2023

The City of Sheridan, Wyoming, will conduct a public meeting at 12-noon on August 31, 2023, in the City Council Chambers on the 3rd floor of City Hall.

The purpose of the meeting is to allow citizens to review and comment on the Sheridan Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades.

The site electrical transformer has exceeded its useful life and is in need of replacement.

The heating and ventilation system is not adequate and is marginally operational in the screen room.

The original submersible pumps installed in 1981 have reached the point of obsolescence and to repair and maintain present unsafe conditions for operational staff.

Construction of a new dry well basement pump room is the safe and efficient solution.

The belt filter press #2 is more than 30 years old and is at the end of its useful life, requiring replacement with a new press that will provide the operational redundancy and flexibility.

The north clarifier is requiring replacement of the center support column, scraper mechanism, motor drive, gear box unit, and any pertinences that pertains to the upgrade needed, due to deterioration and the clarifier nearing the end of its useful life.

The rotary drum influent screen within the headworks facility is 26 years of age, as well as the lack of redundancy within the facility poses risk to downstream equipment for any period with the automatic screen not operational.

The proposed solution includes expanding the existing headworks screen building to the north and constructing an additional flow channel to accommodate a second influent screen.

At the meeting, the City of Sheridan will present the preliminary design of the proposed project and will discuss the estimated cost of the improvements and the plan for funding the improvements.
